The Battle of Verdun was fought from February 21^st, 1916 to December 18^th, 1916 in World War I.

Episode 3x03 - "Bank Job": While discussing the less-than-optimum conditions for having to perform a possible surgical operation on Bridget (a suspected host to a ferropodous) while in a back office of BMM Bank, Helen Magnus tells Will Zimmerman that at least here she doesn't have to deal with the mud and the rats like she did in the trenches at Verdun. Helen Magnus's reference of being in trenches at Verdun indicates that Magnus was medically involved in some way during the Battle of Verdun.
