Shortly before midnight on 14 April 1912, four days into her maiden voyage, Titanic hit an iceberg and sank two hours and forty-eight minutes later, early on the morning of 15 April. The sinking resulted in the deaths of 1,517 passengers, making it one of the deadliest maritime disasters in history.
There are also hints given in the opening credits that merfolk were present at the sinking of the ship.
