"The Hollow Men" is the tenth episode of the third season of Sanctuary, and the thirty-sixth episode overall in the series.

This episode is the mid-season winter finale of the first half of season Three.

Synopsis[]

The team travels to Hollow Earth to save Helen Magnus, and gets trapped. John Druitt, Nikola Tesla, and Adam Worth work together to save them.

  • Chronology: The plot-line of this episode continues directly into the next Episode 3x11 - "Pax Romana".
  • Chronology: "The Hollow Men" is the fourth episode of five in the Adam Worth / Hollow Earth story arc.
  • Reference: TV Series "DuckTales" (1987) - Nikola Tesla refers to Will Zimmerman, Henry Foss and Kate Freelander as "Huey, Dewey, and Screwy".[3]
  • Factual Error: When trying to melt the ice, Henry Foss starts with a blowtorch. Then to speed things up, Helen Magnus gives him an aerosol spray to make a bigger flame. This wouldn't work. The spray made the flame bigger, but cooler, and the heat source was further away, being blown away from the ice by the strong winds.[4]
  • Trivia: At the end of the episode, the team are held up by balls of electricity. This form of captivity is remarkably similar to that in "The Incredibles" (2004) film.[5]
