The Beedie Group was the primary private financier of the Sanctuary television series.
History[]
Originally, Sanctuary as a web series was owned by its creator Damian Kindler. As a result of viewers heavily pirating the webisodes, the resulting financial situation led to the IP being bought by The Beedie Group as part of their negotiation to continue to finance the IP as a television series.
Season 2[]
| Episode 2x04 - "Hero": The Beedie Group are a construction company working on a building site next to the river (supposedly in New City). At around 8:00 a.m. PST some of the crew were digging out a corner of the property. As the a backhoe operator digs, the wall of a hidden cave pocket collapses, making an opening. The backhoe operator Joseph Koster leaves the machine to explore the cave. Inside the cave is an large abnormal creature egg. After the Construction Site Foreman arrives and sees the large egg, the foreman notified the city inspector right away. When the city inspector saw the large egg, the inspector called Helen Magnus. When Magnus and Will Zimmerman arrive on site, the foreman leads them to the cave and gives them a brief rundown of events. Magnus then has the foreman round up the rest of the crew who were present at the time as she'd like to speak with them. As Magnus inspects the recently hatched egg shell, Will notices claw marks on the interior cave wall, and they postulate that something laid the egg before the city was built and when the cave wall broke open, the introduction of air caused the egg to hatch. When the foreman returns with the crew, he mentions that all except one person, Joe (the first guy on scene), are present outside the cave; he mentions Joe left as he wasn't feeling well. Later, at the Old City Sanctuary, as Magnus is down in a lab further analyzing the hatched eggshell when Will arrives with a laptop to show her Joe's BG employee file and tells her what he's learned about him. Joe becomes the primary interest / lead in the Sanctuary's case regarding this mysteriously unknown abnormal, and Sanctuary team members are sent out to search for him; Magnus warns that members should be careful around him, as the creature may have had an unknown effect on Mr. Koster. |
