"Sanctuary for All, Part II" is the second episode of the first season of Sanctuary, and the second episode overall in the series.

This episode is the second part of the two-part season One premiere. It contains various elements from the second two of eight original webisodes released in 2007.

Synopsis[]

The enigmatic Doctor Helen Magnus (Amanda Tapping) recruits an insightful forensic psychiatrist named Doctor Will Zimmerman (Robin Dunne) to join her in the quest to track, study and protect the strange, and often terrifying creatures that secretly populate our world.

Plot[]

1x02 Henry, Helen, Alexei, Will, Bigfoot

Bigfoot, Will Zimmerman, and Alexei
Henry Foss and Helen Magnus

Down on a lower level, Will Zimmerman along with Bigfoot enter the observation cell that Alexei is being held in. Will attempts to connect with the boy, having Bigfoot release him from his restraints. Meanwhile, Helen Magnus is joined by Henry Foss up on the observation deck above. Henry gives Magnus the analysis results of the sample she took from one of the cops at the morgue and notifies her of a working girl being murdered behind a warehouse near Circle Square four hours ago, to which Magnus requests the CCTV footage. Henry then leaves the room after requesting server upgrades, leaving Magnus alone to continue to watch the scene below.

1x02 Henry catches Ashley leaving

Henry Foss and Ashley Magnus

As Henry makes his way back through the large building, when the elevator he's ascending in stops at the residential level, he comes across Ashley Magnus who is now fully dressed in her biker leathers with helmet in hand. As they trade places, Henry comments "I thought your mother grounded you?" to which Ashley responds with "She did" as she turns to reach for the down button to take her to the garage. Even though Henry catches her breaking her mom's order, he lets her go so she can get them some new "toys".

Back down in the observation cell, Alexei's appendage attacks Will, shattering the corner of the wooden chair Will is holding out in front of him as form of protection. Will eventually calms the boy through conversation, relating to him through the topic of "fear" being a defense mechanism and the need to feel safe being universal for everyone. Up above, Magnus is remarkably impressed, stating the outcome of the scene below as being "magnificent".

The next scene jumps to Magnus up in her study at her computer station reviewing the CCTV footage she requested from Henry earlier. As she watches, her suspicion and worst fear becomes a reality as she clearly identifies the suspect in the frame of footage as being John Druitt. She then checks the status of the protective EM shield surrounding the property, noting that is currently working at 100% efficiency, which gives her a tiny bit comfort knowing that he can't get through it.

1x02 Ashley meets Sylvio

Ashley Magnus and Sylvio Rudd

On the Eastside of town, Ashley and Sylvio Rudd are talking shop in a warehouse as they handle weapons for Ashley to potentially purchase. Their dealings are suddenly interrupted by Druitt as he throws spiked metal balls at Sylvio and his van, hitting Sylvio in the chest making him collapse. Ashley ducks for cover behind a desk and opens fire at the mysterious intruder. When the intruder disappears around a corner, Ashley drags Sylvio over behind the desk, and then at his request, she leaves to track down their assailant.

Back at the Old City Sanctuary, Magnus is joined by Will on the parapets of the south tower located on the roof above Magnus's study. Here, they discuss Will's ability to cope with the hidden world of abnormals he just entered and Magnus eventually admits that she knows his destiny is to work with the Sanctuary Network, revealing that the monster he saw kill his mother when he was 8-years-old was real. Will finally realizes that Magnus knew how all this new information would affect him and asks how she expects him to work alongside creatures like the one that killed his mother. Magnus's only response is that it's up to him to take a massive leap of faith.

1x02 Druitt disarms Ashley

Ashley Magnus and John Druitt

In the Eastside warehouse Ashley and Sylvio are in, Ashley tries in vain to chase down the mystery man (Druitt) who keeps appearing and disappearing from view at a very confusing and unnatural speed. After expending many bullets from her gun's magazine, a frustrated Ashley turns around to come face-to-face with Druitt, who pries the golden gun from her hand. He comments "That's a nasty toy for someone your age" to which Ashley replies "It's a present from my mom". At the response, he says "Then you better have it back", intentionally letting her grab it and aim it at his head. Immediately, Druitt and Ashley get into a physical confrontation, forcing Ashley to waste six more bullets. As he then lines up her shot directly at his head for the second time, Ashley is surprised to find that her magazine is now empty when she pulls the trigger to try to execute him. At the dismay, she decides to drop the gun to get into hand-to-hand combat with the guy. Unfortunately, Druitt has more fighting experience and has the upper hand due to his sheer height and reach, giving him a clear advantage over her. Only a few seconds in, Ashley takes a massive punch to the face, cutting her cheek open. Several times during the fight he effectively blocks her punches and kicks, criticizing her ability as having "decent technique, completely lacking in discipline, but impressive enough" as he twists her arm and then releases her. As she tries to catch her breath, she questions who the man (Druitt) is, to which he says "Just someone new in town. Beyond that, I wouldn't want to be the one to spoil the surprise". He then proceeds to angrily declare "Now, it's time for you to learn to respect your elders!" and gives her a massive kick to the stomach, knocking her straight off her feet to land flat on her back several feet away, blonde hair and limbs splaying out all over the concrete floor.

1x02 Helen and Sally

Helen Magnus and Sally

Down in the Old City Sanctuary's main lab, the mermaid at the glass wall of its enclosure attracts Magnus's attention as she passes through the area, drawing her over. Magnus mirrors the mermaid, placing her hand on the glass through which they can have a telepathic conversation. Magnus comforts the mermaid, saying they are safe from "him" as the Shield is working, however the mermaid picks up on her other worries, especially presumably Magnus's fear for Ashley, as Magnus then states "If the truth were to come out, consequences would be devastating."

1x02 Sylvio tasers Druitt

John Druitt and Sylvio Rudd

Back at the Eastside warehouse, Ashley collects herself, standing back up to take on a defensive stance, swaying a bit as she coughs and continues to breath hard after having all of the air knocked out of her. Her and Druitt exchange words back-and-forth for a bit just before Sylvio shows up behind Druitt, shooting him in the back with a taser gun. As Druitt starts to ramble, Sylvio tells him to "shut up" as he drops him to the floor. Once down, Ashley relaxes, thanking her partner, to which Sylvio returns to their earlier 'shop' comments, saying "Now he's got to be worth something".

1x02 Henry, Druitt, and Ashley

Henry Foss, John Druitt, and Ashley Magnus

Cut to the outside of the Old City Sanctuary, Ashley and Henry arrive at a side loading entrance in a van. When they get out, they open up the back to reveal Druitt now securely strapped to a gurney. Henry doesn't really see an unconscious Druitt as a threat, except Ashley knows better, stating "He took 10,000 volts plus a triple-tranq" in order to subdue him. After the two release the gurney from tie-down straps, Ashley tells Henry to put the man (Druitt) in the SHU to let her mom deal with him as she wants to go take a shower.

Down in the SHU on a lower level, Henry does as he's told, but unfortunately for Henry, Druitt was only faking being asleep. After Henry removed Druitt's restraints and was on his way out of the holding cell, Druitt disarms him, and forces Henry to take him on a tour of the facility.

1x02 Druitt stuns Henry

Henry Foss and John Druitt

They eventually reach Henry's array located just off to the side of the main lab on the lab level. Druitt then forces Henry to disengage the EM shield. After the EM shield is down, Druitt then shoots Henry with his own energy weapon, stunning Henry unconscious.

1x02 Helen tends to Ashley's face

Helen Magnus and Ashley Magnus

Meanwhile, on another lower level Magnus finds Ashley in the infirmary tending to her wounds. As Magnus enquirers where she has been for the night as she inspects her daughter's facial injuries, Ashley describes having had a "bit of trouble" with a "super fast psychopathic dude" and gets her mother's absolute attention. When Magnus worriedly asks "How fast?", her daughter's further descriptors of "pretty hot moves for a tall guy" and "he had a great accent too, kinda like yours, only more evil" immediately sets her off. Magnus then tells Ashley to stay in the infirmary, but as she rushes out the room Ashley runs right after her very confused.

Down on the lab level, Will and Bigfoot find Henry on the floor of his array, wondering what just happened to him.

1x02 Helen tells Ashley of the threat Druitt poses

Helen Magnus and Ashley Magnus

Upstairs, Magnus with Ashley hot on her heels, hurriedly enters her study and goes straight over to her computer station (presumably to check the status of the EM shield and or to also search the security camera feeds for Druitt in the building). Magnus tells Ashley to grab whatever weapons she can, but Ashley refuses to do so until her mother tells her what the problem is. Magnus explains that the man (Druitt) Ashley brought in earlier tonight will kill them both and had allowed himself to be captured.

1x02 Ashley and Helen surprised by Druitt

Ashley Magnus and Helen Magnus

Just as Magnus tells her they may have only moments before he finds them, Druitt teleports into the study, shocking both women at his sudden presence. As John and Helen greet each other by name, Ashley gives her mother a confused look and asks her "You know this ghoul?" to which Druitt says that they 'go way back'. Druitt then teleports behind Ashley, grabbing her sharply by her arms, making her cry out in pain. Magnus pleads with him to not harm her, as Druitt laments about his troubled and lonely past. During this moment, Ashley struggles and fails to release herself from his tight grip, calling out to her mom, begging her to shoot him.

1x02 Helen searches for Ashley

Helen Magnus

Before Magnus can act, Druitt then teleports with Ashley out of the room, leaving a severely shaken Magnus to desperately search for her daughter through the camera feeds on her computer.

1x02 Druitt puts Ashley in the enclosure

John Druitt and Ashley Magnus

Druitt and Ashley rematerialize down in the SHU in the enclosure that holds the same species of large humanoid lizard creature that killed Will's mom (it may potentially be the exact same one). Realizing where she's at, Ashley begs Druitt "Please don't do this" as he leaves her in imminent danger. Druitt is seen giving a faint kiss to the back of Ashley's head just as he teleports away.

1x02 Druitt with monkey skull

John Druitt and Helen Magnus

Back up in Magnus's study, her search through the camera feeds is disrupted with Druitt's return. Magnus demands to know where her daughter is at, to which Druitt eventually tells her "where the worst of the worst" are kept, upsetting Magnus. The two of them then go back-and-forth about what's happening and why. Druitt is using Ashley as leverage to get Magnus to cure him with a sample of her blood. Though this conversation, the audience learns that Druitt is Ashley's estranged biological father. Druitt is upset that Ashley clearly doesn't know that he is, to which Magnus defends her position, saying "How could I possibly tell her?". When Magnus tells him that Ashley thinks her father is dead, Druitt gets into a rage, only tempering slightly when he sees the camera feed on the monitor over Magnus's shoulder.

1x02 Helen sees Ashley in danger

John Druitt and Helen Magnus

As Magnus turns around, on the computer monitor she can see the giant lizard creature approaching Ashley in its enclosure. Magnus then secretly taps a few keys to enter a command that lowers the TV monitor screens in the main lab, getting the attention of Henry, Will, and Bigfoot to Ashley's potentially deadly predicament.

1x02 Bigfoot, Will, and Henry

Bigfoot, Will Zimmerman, and Henry Foss

Down in the SHU enclosure, as the giant lizard creature gets within a few feet of her, Ashley bolts up the wall behind her, grabbing at a railing to try to kick the glass filter cover off an enclosure light. Unfortunately, the giant lizard creature knocks her down before she can, and then slashes at her throat. Just then, Will and Bigfoot enter the enclosure as the still partially stunned Henry is sent to go find Magnus. Bigfoot attacks the giant lizard creature as Will goes over to a semi-unconscious Ashley. Bigfoot's fight against the giant lizard creature doesn't last long as Bigfoot gets slashed in the abdomen, leaving Will the only person still standing. Will then notices the partially removed light cover overhead and a busted enclosure pipe.

1x02 Helen loads the syringe

Helen Magnus

Upstairs in her study, Magnus puts a wooden box on her desk. When she opens it, she reveals several vials of blood and a syringe. She then takes a vial, loads the contents into the syringe, and then hands the syringe over to Druitt, claiming it was a pure centrifuged sample of her blood. Druitt then takes the syringe and injects its contents into his vein, telling Magnus "You won't regret it". Magnus can only give him a smile as she responds "I'm sorry I can't say the same for you" as she had lied about the sample, giving him one that wasn't pure, but instead tainted with a poison. Druitt then tells her the rest of "the Five" will come before teleporting out of the facility. Magnus then runs out of her study to go to the SHU.

1x02 Giant lizard creature

Giant lizard creature

Down in the SHU enclosure, Will then grabs a busted pipe and breaks it off from its base to jab the giant lizard creature and to hit the light filter off. The unfiltered light is harmful to the giant lizard creature's skin, making it rush off in pain into the back of the enclosure through thick foliage. Magnus and Henry then come through the door; Magnus takes Ashley from Will as Will and Henry grab Bigfoot and put him on a gurney. The group then makes their way to the infirmary.

1x02 Ashley and Will in the hallway

Ashley Magnus and Will Zimmerman

Presumably the morning of the next day, on an upper level, Ashley stops Will in the hallway outside her bedroom door as he passes by with some flowers. She thanks him for saving her life and asks if they'd be seeing him around (wanting to know if he's permanently joining the team). Will isn't sure, but Ashley gives credit to her mother to hopefully help sway his decision into staying. She also informs Will that the 'Big Guy' is allergic to the flowers he's holding as she turns to walk in the opposite direction. Will then thanks her and turns back around to continue on his way, leaving the flowers in a vase at the end of the hallway.

1x02 Will and Bigfoot

Will Zimmerman and Bigfoot

Down in the infirmary, Will is seen sitting at the side of Bigfoot's bed, admitting his fears and how things have changed for him in the last day; how only two days ago, Bigfoot was a source of nightmares but not anymore, and that maybe monsters don't exist. Bigfoot then summons the strength to tell Will that that isn't true, that there is such as thing as monsters.

1x02 Will talks with Magnus

Will Zimmerman and Helen Magnus

Up in Magnus's study, Magnus is sitting at her desk writing in her journal as Will stops by to say goodbye. Before he goes, he confronts her with questions relating to the night his mother died in 1985, and to a John Druitt in the late 1880s, confounding him about how it is possible for Magnus to be involved in both situations; deducing that either one or both of them could travel through time, or that they are over a hundred years old. Magnus then cuts him off to outright admit that she is 157-years-old and provides details about her involvement with Druitt being her first patient. Magnus then thinks back to the time she tried to stop Druitt from killing Molly and failed to shoot Druitt, only grazing his cheek (providing the audience the answer to how he got his facial scar). Will then figures out that Druitt was not only just her patient, but also her former lover and is Ashley's father. Magnus then admits that she kept the embryo frozen for almost[1] a century until she could bare the loneliness no longer; bringing the embryo to term when she thought that John was gone for good. Will then agrees to stay as part of the team on the condition that she doesn't hide any more stuff from him as he's still trying to get over the lie surrounding his mother's death. Magnus then smiles and welcomes him on the journey of a lifetime, saying "Shall we begin?"

Quotes[]

[about Chernobyl]
MAGNUS: Many of the survivors of this disaster moved on and had children.
HENRY: Yeah, if you can call them that.
MAGNUS: Your sensitivity is breathtaking.
HENRY: The kid sucks brains!
[Magnus sighs]
HENRY: Not that I'm being judgmental.[2]
WILL: Feeling safe is something we all want.[3]
SYLVIO: I'll be fine. Go.
ASHLEY: You sure?
SYLVIO: Ash, I gotta scream like a girl now. I don't need witnesses.[4]
MAGNUS: What happened?
ASHLEY: Nothing major. Sylvio and I ran into a bit of trouble.
MAGNUS: Trouble?
ASHLEY: Some superfast psychopathic dude. Nothing we couldn't handle.
MAGNUS: How fast?
ASHLEY: Pretty hot moves for a tall guy. He had a great accent, too. Kind of like yours, only more evil.[5]
BIGFOOT: [weakly, from his hospital bed] Will....
WILL: [shocked, as Bigfoot hasn't spoken in his presence before] Did you just...?
BIGFOOT: It...isn't...true....
WILL: What?
BIGFOOT: There is such a thing as monsters.[6]

Extras[]

Notes[]

  • Production: "Sanctuary for All, Part II" is the re-shot version of "Webisode 3" & "Webisode 4".
  • Chronology: Helen Magnus's age of 157-years-old places this double episode pilot within the time frame of August 27th, 2007 and August 27th, 2008; using her birthday as bookends. This indicates that the events of "Sanctuary for All" took place anywhere from several months prior to possibly more than a year before the double episode air date of early October 2008.
  • Electroshock Weapons: Stun guns, that look like a thick smartphone with little horns, deliver hundreds of thousands of volts at micro-amperage when you poke someone with them. Tasers look like guns and shoot little darts on wires that deliver thousands of volts at milliamperage. Stun guns inflict pain and with training a very tough person can learn to overcome that pain. Tasers overload the nerves that control muscles and you cannot learn to resist that. John Druitt fights against a taser long enough to recite a poem. Does this tell us Druitt is so abnormally powered that he can resist a taser, or does it say the writers don't understand taser vs stun gun?[7]
  • Continuity Error: An unconscious Henry Foss is found in his array by Will Zimmerman quickly followed by Bigfoot. Will is carrying a stack of books. In the episode's ending scene, Will said he spent time in the library. This would presumably indicate that the stack of books Will was holding was from the library. There is absolutely no reason for Will to have 1) left the library at all / to decide to take the books with him anywhere, and 2) to wander around the lab level (where was he even going?). Will has only been at the facility as a guest for less than four hours with the singular task of psychologically helping Alexei who's currently in an observation cell on a different lower level floor (it's likely on the secure level, not the lab level). Why was Will even in the library on the ground level floor or even know of the library (via elevator, Magnus only toured the main lab on the lab level and then took him up to her study on the top upper level floor)? Speculation: Following Magnus and Will's discussion on the parapet of the south tower, offscreen Magnus may have told him or introduced him to the library to help ease his mind about working with abnormals, however, the ending scene of the episode can potentially come across as Will having found the library on his own.
  • Dialogue: Down in the infirmary, Helen Magnus learns from Ashley Magnus that John Druitt is inside the Old City Sanctuary. They quickly rush out of the infirmary, (off-screen they walk through the medical level to the elevator, ride the elevator together up to the upper level, disembark and walk down the hallway), and enter Magnus's study. Magnus orders Ashley to grab weapons, but Ashley wants to know why first. Magnus says, "Because he'll kill us both." This is a blatant lie Magnus told Ashley in order to cause Ashley to unknowingly potentially shoot her father.
    • Trivia: At no point in the series has John Druitt ever shown intent to kill Helen Magnus. Moreover, what is actually shown is Druitt's long-standing desire to be with Magnus,[8] [9] [10] [11] [12] his jealousy of James Watson potentially being involved with her in the 1940s [13], and his distrust and protective nature of Magnus around Nikola Tesla.[14] [15] While Druitt and Magnus have gotten into physical confrontations, it was never done by Druitt with sole intent to harm Magnus; it was either to threaten her to have her leave him alone,[16] or to cause her to kill him.[10]
    • Trivia: Had John Druitt ever wanted to kill Ashley Magnus, he could have done so long before that moment, even before that night, as he had known about Ashley's "exploits" for "quite some time." As explained in the episode, Druitt didn't want to threaten Ashley's life and only did so to force Magnus into giving him a blood sample. Afterwards, Druitt is seen to express parental affection for Ashley, by trying to enlighten her about him being her father [14], and is distraught about the Cabal abducting and genetically manipulating Ashley.[17] [18] [19] After Ashley sacrifices herself to save her mother, he goes on a revengeful killing spree.[20]
  • Continuity Error: Just before John Druitt teleports into Helen Magnus's study, Ashley Magnus is standing a couple feet off to the side of her mother. When Druitt arrives, startling the two women, they instantly close ranks, removing the small distance between them to be within only inches of each other as they turn around to face him and Magnus points her gun at Druitt. Over the course of a few seconds, the camera angle jumps between looking towards Magnus and Ashley verses looking at Druitt, then as the camera pans across the room following Druitt walking towards them, Ashley is now inexplicably several feet away from Magnus; standing even further from Magnus now than what she was before Druitt had showed up. It is this large gap between Ashley and Magnus that allows Druitt to grab Ashley and further separate her from her mother.
  • Revealing Mistake: When Helen Magnus is searching for Ashley Magnus on the CCTV, one of the camera views is the same shot in freeze frame from when Henry Foss put John Druitt in the SHU earlier.[21]
  • Trivia: Before disappearing, John Druitt mentions "The Five... The others will come", foreshadowing the events of Episode 1x07 - "The Five".
  • Continuity / Character Error: There's a flower bouquet that shouldn't exist. The morning after, Will Zimmerman is seen walking down an upper level hallway with a small bouquet of flowers for Bigfoot. The entirety of this portion of the scene does not make sense. The custom of giving flowers to a patient in a hospital is usually reserved for family, friends, and coworkers (people that have a connection to the patient). Will has zero connection to Bigfoot, having only been around him for a few short hours as a guest of Helen Magnus and hasn't built any type of relation with Bigfoot aside from being terrified of him and a brief unknown acquaintance (Bigfoot chaperoned Will with Alexei and then Bigfoot fought off the giant lizard creature to help save Ashley Magnus). Timewise, it's odd. After the team go to the infirmary (late at night), presumably everything settles down and the characters go to bed (it's assumed Magnus put Will in a guest bedroom - it's unknown if it's the same room from the web series, if it's actually the same permanent bedroom Will keeps throughout the TV series). The first thing Will would have done when he awoke a few short hours later would need to have been to leave the entire property to walk to a flower shop somewhere in Old City, buy the bouquet, then return. This isn't probable. Will is a guest and does not have any passcodes to get in and out of the building. Had he left the property, to get back in, he would have had to have called Helen Magnus (the only phone number he has) for him to open the front gate as well as the front door. This didn't happen. Based on his interactions with Ashley and Magnus, it indicates that it's early enough to be the first moments that he's interacted with them so far that morning.
    • Character Error: After Ashley Magnus informs Will Zimmerman that Bigfoot is allergic to Will's chosen gift flowers, Will 'disposes' of the flowers by depositing them in a nearby vase. This is not okay, as this action still puts Bigfoot at a direct risk of exposure to the flowers. Bigfoot is the staff member whose tasked with cleaning the Old City Sanctuary. Eventually, Bigfoot is going to be the person who will interact with the decaying / dead bouquet of flowers to get rid of them; potentially exposing him to an allergen. Will instead should have thrown the flowers directly into the trash; not lazily depositing them into a vase - a vase that also now potentially needs its inside cleaned if there was any contact with the flower stems (it's unknown how long the flowers stayed in the vase - if long enough to create a dying mess dripping out the bottom).
  • Continuity Error: The location of the scene with the flowers is incongruous. It's presumed to be on the residential hallway outside Ashley's bedroom. This is a second story floor of the upper levels, meaning that after Will Zimmerman returned with the flowers he went back upstairs to assumedly his guest bedroom, then left the bedroom to head to (assumedly a stairwell somewhere?) to head down to the infirmary. It does not make sense that Will would for no reason return to a guest bedroom that has zero of his personal belongings in it. In addition, Will's direction of travel also does not make any sense. Ashley Magnus and Will are standing in a hallway that runs parallel along the north side of the building. Ashley walks west as Will crosses by her going east. The easiest and most direct route to the infirmary is the southwest elevator. To get there, he should have walked in the same direction as Ashley, then taken two left turns (to then walk south then west) as he followed the perimeter of the quadrangle. Will walking west passed Ashley has him going in the opposite direction towards the church, away from the infirmary.
  • Continuity / Character Error: Will Zimmerman visiting Bigfoot in the infirmary is a reshot version of a scene from Episode 0x04 - "Webisode 4". In the web series, Will has history with Bigfoot, as Bigfoot used to scare children; having traumatized Will as a young boy. Through working alongside with Bigfoot, Will starts to overcome his fear of Bigfoot and it culminates in a scene in the infirmary after Bigfoot gets injured by John Druitt. In the TV series reshoot, Will does not have any personal history with Bigfoot and barely spends any actual time together. There is no close or meaningful bond between Will and Bigfoot in order for Will to have strong enough feelings to feel that it would be acceptable for him, a stranger, to visit an injured staff member, as well as have a want to immediately rush out first thing in the morning to buy flowers for.
  • Trivia: The letters S U K 3 appear on four golf balls on a desk tray on Magnus's desk. 38.11 [22]
  • Anachronism: At the end of "Sanctuary for All, Part II", Helen Magnus says to Will Zimmerman: "I kept the embryo frozen for over a century, until I could bear the loneliness no longer. I brought it to term believing John was gone for good." Magnus and John Druitt's relationship ended supposedly in November 1888 during the Jack the Ripper murders. It's assumed that Magnus was pregnant either at the time Druitt killed Molly, removing the embryo not long after then, or she had removed the embryo just prior to that encounter, seeing as how Druitt corrects himself, calling Magnus his "former fiancée"; knowing his murderous actions has undoubtedly broken them apart by then, especially due to him getting caught by her in the act red-handed. Later in season 1, in Episode 1x09 - "Requiem" Will Zimmerman states that Ashley Magnus is (still) 23-years-old, placing her year of birth in mid-1984. Based on this, it means that Ashley was frozen as an embryo then re-implanted in November 1983 (to resume the roughly seven-and-a-half months remaining of her gestation) for a total of only ninety-five years passing in cryostasis since her removal which is definitely under the length of a century; not "over a century" as said in the line of dialogue. Being that this is simple math, the writer(s) should have caught this mistake, having Magnus say "for almost a century" instead. Had a century or more of time truly passed of the embryo being frozen, Ashley would have been born at the earliest in mid-1989 (if re-implanted exactly 100 years later in November 1988), being at most 18-years-old by the time the series starts in early-January / February 2008 (turning 19-years-old after Episode 1x09 - "Requiem").
