Keepers of the dead

The keepers of the dead or simply keepers are the abnormal guardians of the Cabal's possessions. A particular location they were known to guard is the crypt of the Morrígan in Scotland.

Season 1

Episode 1x03 - "Fata Morgana": After the Sanctuary team led by Helen Magnus stole the Morrígan away, the Cabal sent a retrieval team and a gigantic pack of keepers to the Old City Sanctuary to recapture their property. It is unknown how the Cabal came to use the keepers to guard their collections; whether or not the Cabal had stumbled upon the creatures already pre-existing naturally or had created them through genetic modification. During Magnus's autopsy of a dead keeper that she brought back with her from Scotland, she found that their large heads with very long teeth were actually either the skull of another giant dead abnormal or a man-made decorative helmet used for protection and intimidation. The creatures physiology is basically human, but with significant abnormalities to the face and torso. They exhibit a terrifying propensity for violence and possess superhuman strength and speed, as well as having long sharp claws that allow them to cling to the walls of buildings. They were able to use these claws to easily climb up and over the protective stone barrier walls surrounding the Old City Sanctuary as well as the outside sheer walls of the building itself.
