Jules Gabriel Verne (February 8, 1828 – March 24, 1905) was a French author who pioneered the science-fiction genre. He is best known for novels such as Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, A Journey to the Center of the Earth, and Around the World in Eighty Days.

Helen Magnus knew him personally, and named one of the Sanctuary Network's submarines Nautilus, after the vessel from one of Verne's novels.[1]
