Longevity is a type of abnormality that vastly lengthens the lifespan of the individual possessing it. Helen Magnus is one of the most prominent characters to have this abnormality, but it has also been shown to have been had by the Mayans. The extremely long lifespan has lead many abnormals with longevity to try to find a 'cure', and as such, have either used or attempted to use the Mayan elixir.[1]
Teleportation is the more or less instantaneous transfer of matter from one point to another.[2]John Druitt possesses the ability to teleport over great distances since he was injected with a serum created from the source blood.[3] During the teleportation, his entire body turns into energy.[4] Use of the ability attracts an energy entity capable of amplifying one's rage and bloodlust to latch on to Druitt, turning him into the cold-blooded killer known as "Jack the Ripper".[5][6] The Sanctuary Network used EM shields to protect its facilities from teleporters.[7] Upon her source blood-induced transformation by the Cabal, Ashley Magnus was able to teleport as well.[8]
Invisibility is the abnormal ability that allows a person or creature to become unseen to the naked eye. Invisibility only affects the entirety of the recipient's body, leaving any items on their person, such as clothing, visible. Nigel Griffin, a member of the Five, gained this power when he injected himself with the source blood. According to John Druitt, his molecules became photosensitive, allowing him to become invisible at a whim.
Telepathy is the transfer of information, such as thoughts or feelings, between two individuals by means other than the five senses. Telepaths have the ability to read the thoughts of another person. This usually only works on the thoughts a person is having at that moment. This was the case with the triad, who had to pose questions to Helen Magnus in order to read her thought responses.[9]Merfolk also have telepathic abilities.[10]
Empaths have the ability to read the feelings of other people. For example, Sophie was able to sense the nubbins fear of the nubbin predator as well as their dislike of the cold.[11]
