Herusans are a species of humanoid abnormals native to Hollow Earth.

History[]

Episode 3x11 - "Pax Romana"
When Helen Magnus is revived and meets Fallon, she initially believes Fallon is a quinterran based on her eyes. Fallon, however, says that quinterrans are her species' surface counterpart; that instead she is a herusan, the original offshoot of the species.
Episode 3x20 - "Into the Black"
A large group of herusans arrived on the surface of the Earth in early 2010, along with many other abnormals. They were put into a camp overseen by the Lotus Defense Corps, but later seized control of it and held a number of hostages.

Episode 4x02 - "Uprising"
They appear human, but with certain feline features, like vertical slit-pupiled eyes and cat-like strength and agility. The males, like Thelo and Garris, also possess a lion-like roar. Herusans have two hearts in the right side of their chest.
Episode 4x10 - "Acolyte"
A promise band is the herusan equivalent of an engagement ring. Garris gave one to Kate Freelander some time after their return to Hollow Earth.
Episode 4x12 - "Sanctuary for None, Part I"
Caleb quickly noticed the promise band Kate wore while she helped organize the homeland project in the Fifth Ward and congratulated the couple; calling Garris a lucky guy. Bigfoot however didn't show a happy response to the news, upsetting Kate in the process of him trying to cryptically protect her by telling her to leave the Homeland; knowing Caleb wasn't to be trusted.
