Season 4[]

Episode 4x03 - "Untouchable":
Alice's conception resulted from Erika Myers and Henry Foss's foreplay over their shared love of electronics. Contraceptives to prevent her creation were not used as Erika and her aunt Lillian Myers falsely believed that their race was so ancient that they were reaching the end of their run; explaining why they never saw any lycan child born at Oldham Psychiatric Institute. Erika and Helen Magnus however deduce that their species' infertility was instead a side-effect of the suppressive medications they had been taking; that suppressing their transformative DNA also suppressed their fertility as well.

Now that Erika has been free of taking the medications, it means that Alice will be the first lycan baby known to be born since her parents died. Unfortunately, another side-effect resulting from years worth of taking those medications is that it causes Erika to struggle to control her HAP physiology due to not being able to tolerate the current release rate of pregnancy hormones; catalyzing the issue. Magnus states that Erika's cells should be locking themselves, preventing her from transforming at all in order to protect the fetus; something Erika's body is not doing. Despite this problem, much to the new parents' relief, current prenatal vital readings show that the embryo is otherwise healthy.

To do what's best for their child despite some potential risk involved, Henry and Erika consent to undergo Magnus' devised treatment procedure that will slow the embryo's growth, changing the gestation rate from around a total of ten-and-a-half months to possibly twenty-two months; meaning that Erika will be pregnant with Alice for almost two years. While Magnus is hopeful that the child will be born healthy, saying that '"It'll just take a little longer than usual", she advises Henry that Erika will continue to get the best possible care, but not here as the Sanctuary Network is headed into uncharted waters and its future uncertain; making it "no place for a baby". Magnus says that she supports Henry's eventual decision to either stay to work with her at the Sanctuary or to leave to be with Erika and their child in England.
Episode 4x05 - "Resistance":
After Henry Foss and Helen Magnus get caught trespassing into a SCIU facility (Area 51), Henry worries about being a good father to her and plans on teaching her the backdoor hacks to "Final Fantasy".
Episode 4x11 - "The Depths":
Henry Foss creates a video diary for her to watch when she is older. In it, Henry talks about his hopes for the future and chronicles his progress in creating his FOSSSS jacket. The video log reveals that Alice is named in honor of Henry's good lycan friend Alistair. Had she been a boy, she would have instead been directly named "Alistair" after her namesake. Henry states that Alice will grow up outside of the Sanctuary in England and as such, will have an English accent and own a Cricket bat.
Episode 4x12 - "Sanctuary for None, Part I":
Henry Foss opts out of joining the homeland project because of Alice's expected arrival; telling Bigfoot: "I have a baby on the way, it's probably not for me".

Notes[]

  • Trivia: Her gender was revealed off-screen to the audience in the Sanctuary season 4 DVD audio commentary for Episode 4x11 - "The Depths" by Amanda Tapping & Gillian Horvath (minute mark start at 28:17). She was also said to likely grow up as human first until reaching puberty before she would start to be able to shift into her lycan form.
  • Trivia: Being that Helen Magnus raised Henry Foss like a son alongside her daughter Ashley Magnus, it makes Alice her non-biological grandchild. This would also make Ashley her non-biological aunt, and Bigfoot her non-biological grandfather as Henry sees him as a father-figure.

Birthday[]

In Episode 4x03 - "Untouchable", it's assumed Erika Myers had just found out she was pregnant, rushing over to the Old City Sanctuary from England to tell Henry Foss in person that he's going to be a father based on her having some "urgent news" to tell him that "couldn't wait".

Later in the episode, Helen Magnus uses the specific terms "embryo" and "fetal" to describe the state of the developing offspring. An "embryo" marks six weeks gestation. A "fetus" marks eight full weeks gestation (start of the ninth week) until birth.

Near the end of the episode, Magnus says that Erika's gestation rate will change from being ten-and-a-half months long (presumably the duration of pregnancy for a HAP, being one-and-a-half months longer than a normal human's nine months) to now be up to possibly twenty-two-months-long (more than twice the normal length for a HAP).

Considering that Erika was at least roughly eight weeks pregnant = ~two months along already and considering the max estimated changed gestational rate for a new total overall pregnancy length of twenty-two months long, it means that Alice will presumably be born twenty months after "Untouchable". This episode is known to take place three weeks after the Hollow Earth Invasion which occurred in early 2011 in January / February.

If everything went well and Erika had a healthy full-term pregnancy just as Magnus had expected it to be, then Alice would have likely been born in September / October of 2012.
